Knoxville Zoo

We went to the Knoxville Zoo today. We saw all the animals, played in the Kids Cove and took a dip in the pool to cool off before leaving. Fun for all!

Big South Fork National Recreation Area, TN

08 June 2009 - Went hiking with my Uncle Mitch at Big South Fork National Recreation Area. This recreation area is a beautiful stretch of land that lies in both TN & KY. We hiked 8.6 miles taking 2 trails; Twin Arches trail and Angel Falls Overlook trail. These 2 trails were approximately 20 miles apart so we had to do a little extra driving and the scenery was well worth the effort. The Twin Arches are supposed to be the biggest natural stone arches in the eastern U.S. and were an amazing sight to see on that mountain trail. I can't wait to take Josephine there so we can hike some of these trails together, and so she can see those arches.

Fall Creek Falls State Park, TN

30 Apr - 2 May 2009 Our camping trip to Fall Creek Falls was an adventure, practically an aquatic adventure. We were accompanied on our trip by Savannah (a.k.a. Favorite Daughter) and her fiance' Steven. It was to be a 4 day outing but was shortened to 3 days due to weather, rain - rain - and more rain to be exact. We arrived on a Thursday, set up camp, then it started raining and raining, etc. The rain stopped Friday morning for 4 hours, then resumed in force till mid-morning Saturday. At that time a democratic style vote was taken, with the group majority voting to break camp QUICKLY during the lull in the rain. The only thing srambling that morning was ourselves, trying to get packed up and out of there before GOD started heavily watering the park again that morning.
It was a fun camping trip though, because we were in good company. The falls were flowing well, and Fall Creek Falls happens to be the tallest/highest water fall east of the Rocky Mountains. The beautiful flowers were a mother's day gift from Savannah and Steven. We planted them there in hopes that we could come back next year to see them again.
