Cruising on the Carnival Holiday to Mexico

We took a five day cruise on the M/S Holdiay, a Carnival Class cruise ship. This is the smallest ship in their fleet and only has two more sailings before it will be retired. We were accompanied by my (Josephine) mom and dad, my sister and her husband and my middle child and her boyfriend. The food was fabulous, the entertainment was fantastic and the weather cooperated throughout the entire trip. We had two stops, Progresso, Mexico and Cozumel, Mexico.

Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins, Yucatan, Mexico

Our first stop on the cruise was Progresso, Mexico. We took an excursion tour which included a 2 hour bus ride to the ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza, located in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. The city, at one time, encompassed an area of approximately 14 square miles. We walked around as much of it as possible in the time allowed but still may have to return someday to complete the tour. These were amazing structures and the workers there are still digging up more every day. These buildings are over 1000 years old. A must see location when visiting the Yucatan Peninsula. Thanks, Harry, for the sink hole picture.

Cozumel, Mexico

Cozumel was the second stop on our Mexico Cruise. This was our anniversary. We took a taxi ride from the pier to a local resort and spent half the day snorkeling in the crystal clear waters. We had a nice lunch with Savannah and Paul and then headed back into town for a bit of souvenir shopping. The weather was a beautiful 100 degrees and breezy. We had a fantastic day!
