Amistad National Recreation Area

We drove over to Amistad National Recration Area today and saw the lake and the dam that separates United States from Mexico at one of the many border crossings. The picture of us with the eagles is in the center of the dam.

The Zoo, San Antonio, TX

We spent the day with the animals at the zoo. This was not the best zoo that we have been to but it was nice and the weather was wonderful. We had a nice time. I put video clips on all three posts so don't miss them.

Padre Island National Seashore, TX

18 Feb - Padre Island National Seashore is a barrier island on the southeast gulf coast of Texas, close to Corpus Christi. Josephine was very excited because she got to drive on the beach. By law, beaches in the state of Texas are considered state highways, so you can drive on them.

Trip Pictures

These are pictures from our day trip to Beeville, Corpus Christi, and Padre Island. The ship is the USS Lexington, World War II aircraft carrier, which is now a museum in Corpus Christi. It was very cloudy, windy, and hazy when we arrived at the coast, but still fantastic scenery. The sunset was beautiful on the return trip.

Beeville, TX

This town is Josephine's birthplace. We looked for a sign on the highway that said, "Beeville, TX - Birthplace of Josephine", but we didn't see one. This is the first time she has returned to Beeville since age 0.

San Juan and Espada Missions

Here are some pictures of the other two missions that were a part of San Antonio Missions National Historic Park. The next post shows the San Jose mission which was in much better condition.

San Antonio Missions National Historic Park, TX

We took a drive through the San Antonio Missions National Historic Park which consisted of four missions on the south side of the city. We stopped at three of them and took some pictures. The pictures on this blog are of San Jose Mission which was in the best condition of the three. Services are still held in these mission chapels.

River Walk, San Antonio, TX

River walk was very interesting. Lots of people, lots of restaurants. Very pretty.

The Alamo, San Antonio, TX

Today we visited the Alamo in downtown San Antonio. It's odd to walk around an old mission that is surrounded by highrise buildings.

Lyndon B. Johnson's National Historic Park, TX

We stopped by to see where LBJ grew up. Here's some pictures of his ranch which is located just outside of Stonewall, TX.
