Lava Beds National Monument, CA

We spent the day at Lava Beds National Monument hiking through the lava tubes, which are natural cave like tunnels underground created by the flow of lava from a volcano. At the Visitor Center we bought bump helmets (which came in VERY handy because Josephine bumped her helmet covered head 3 times within 15 minutes underground). The park rangers also loaned us flashlights for our underground adventure. This was our first caving trip and we had a lot of fun. If traveling through this area, we would recommend a stop at this monument.
