West Thumb Geyser Basin, Yellowstone NP

On the way back to the RV site we stopped by West Thumb Geyser Basin to check out the hot springs. It's located right beside Yellowstone Lake. These thermal pools and geysers are causing the shoreline lake ice to melt much quicker than the rest of the lake. We were just about to leave this area when we saw three grizzly bears, a mama and two babies. These were different ones from the previous post. We were about 30 miles away from the last bear sighting. You can see in one of the pictures just how close they were to us. There was a park ranger there and he had to keep pulling his car up to the bears and turning on his siren to keep them back away from the people who were taking pictures. They were not the least bit afraid or interested in any of us. They were busy eating flowers.
